To ensure your windows and doors maintain their appearance and functionality, it is important to regularly maintain them. Follow these simple tips for optimal care and maintenance:

FOR ALUMINIUM WINDOWS AND DOORS:

• Clean the external aluminium surfaces every three months using clean water and a mild detergent. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or steel wool to prevent damage to the glass or aluminium.
• In coastal or industrial areas with harsher conditions, clean the surfaces on a monthly basis.
• Regularly check the drainage slots to ensure they are not blocked with dirt or grime.

FOR TIMBER WINDOWS AND DOORS:

• Use soft, clean cloths and avoid scraping devices or abrasive cleaners.
• Wash with a soft cloth and mild detergent, rinsing off residue with clean water. Avoid using solvents.
• Keep bottom tracks clean by wiping them with a cloth, and apply a dry silica-based lubricant if needed. Lightly grease top tracks and oil hinges.
• Operate the opening sashes regularly to ensure smooth movement of the hardware.

FOR AWNING/CASEMENT WINDOWS AND FRENCH DOORS:

• Clean the sash and opening perimeter regularly while the sashes are open to remove dust and foreign matter.
• Clean and operate all door and window hardware regularly to ensure smooth operation.
• Avoid using lubricants on casement stays, as it can affect their operation.

FOR SLIDING WINDOWS AND SLIDING DOORS:

• Regularly clean the sill recesses and remove dust and foreign matter from the tracks using a brush and vacuum.
• Check door locks periodically for satisfactory operation and adjust if necessary.
• Adjust door rollers only if required due to building settlement, lifting the door panel to relieve weight from the roller assembly.

FOR DOUBLE HUNG WINDOWS:

• Clean the window jamb tracks regularly and remove dust and foreign matter.
• Clean and operate the window hardware regularly to maintain smooth operation.

FOR HARDWARE:

• Perform regular maintenance on all hardware, including stainless steel, as they are moving parts.
• In most environments, maintenance every six months is recommended, while marine and industrial environments require maintenance every three months.
• Use a corrosion preventative spray on hangers, pivots, and brackets, wiping off excess with a dry cloth.
• Clean exposed surfaces with warm soapy water and wipe them clean before applying the preventative.
• Wipe hinges’ visible surfaces with warm soapy water, rinse with a clean damp rag, and apply a thin film of light machine oil or a corrosion preventative spray. Be cautious not to get these compounds on the timberwork to avoid staining.
• Spray lubricant on drop bolts and the sliding pin inside the bolt and lock cylinder.

FOR GLASS:

• Promptly remove dirt and contaminants from glass surfaces using clean water and, if needed, a small amount of mild detergent.
• Thoroughly rinse away any detergent residue with clean water.
• Avoid using blades, scrapers, or abrasive cleaners on the glass. Lightly sponge off stubborn dirt or residue to prevent scratching.
• Clean glass at least quarterly, but the frequency may vary depending on environmental conditions.

FOR INSECT AND SAFETY SCREENS:

• Clean flyscreens by vacuuming or washing them thoroughly with a soft brush.
• Clean the screens three to four times per year.
• Add a small amount of detergent to warm water in a bucket and remove the screen for thorough hosing.
• Gently brush the screen using a soft nylon brush dipped in the warm water and detergent solution.
• Rinse the screen thoroughly with water and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling in the window or door
